DAVID KAPLAN is curator and co-founder of the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival. He has staged Williams' plays worldwide including The Eccentricities of a Nightingale in Cantonese at the Hong Kong Repertory, the Russian premiere of Suddenly Last Summer and the world premiere of The Day on Which a Man Dies in Chicago. He directed and designed Ten Blocks on the Camino Real in Rioplatanese Spanish in Uruguay. He staged the first Russian productions of Auntie Mame and Eugene O’Neill’s Ah, Wilderness, both in Russian. More traditional work includes Genet’s The Maids in NYC, Chekov’s The Cherry Orchard in L.A. and Shakespeare’s Macbeth in Russia. He also adapted and directed The World of Ruth Draper performed by Patricia Norcia and June Recital performed by Brenda Currin.

David is the author of "Five Approaches to Acting" and has been teaching actors since 1980. Currently he teaches script analysis at the William Esper Studio. He has taught and lectured at Bard, Clark, Hofstra, NYU, Columbia, Rutgers, The University of New Mexico, The University of the South, Mississippi State University, The Siberian Academy of Fine Arts, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Italy’s Metodifest and Mexico’s Acutuanda sin Actuar. His professional students in New York and Los Angeles have won numerous stage awards including the Tony Award. Three theater companies have formed out of Mr. Kaplan’s classes including Artificial Intelligence and the creators of Tony N Tina’s Wedding. Mr. Kaplan holds degrees from Clark University and the Yale School of Drama.
